Dana White reveals the only weight classes Zuffa Boxing will recognise

Dana White has revealed the eight weight divisions Zuffa Boxing will recognise only. Just one from their list of eight classes are different to "the original eight" formed by the National Sporting Club of London in the 1909.

In the modern list below, that comes 126 years after 1920s Walker Law which established the New York State Athletic Commission, only flyweight has not been concluded, instead replaced by the cruiserweight division.

Zuffa Boxing returns with another show this Sunday, February 15, headlined by heavyweights Efe Ajagba vs Charles Martin at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas.

Everything you need to know about Zuffa Boxing

Background: UFC CEO Dana White initially teased the launch of a boxing promotion nearly a decade ago following the high-profile crossover boxing match between Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor in August 2017. He was out to fix what he called a "broken" system. The launch was repeatedly delayed until last year when White announced that the UFC's parent company, TKO Group Holdings, would enter the boxing industry under the name Zuffa Boxing in partnership with Sela Sport - a Saudi Arabian entertainment and hospitality company owned by the Public Investment Fund - with the backing of Turki Alalshikh, chairman of the General Entertainment Authority of Saudi Arabia.

Titles: Zuffa Boxing will have its own ZUFFA world title and use The Ring Magazine's ranking system to determine the top contenders.

Sanctioning: The Nevada State Athletic Commission.

TV Channel: The promotion secured a media rights deal in September with Paramount Skydance to stream events on Paramount+ and simulcast select events on CBS.

Venue: The Meta Apex in Las Vegas

Signed Fighters: Callum Walsh Jose Valenzuela Vito Mielnicki Radzhab Butaev Efe Ajagba Serhii Bohachuk Jai Opetaia
