Tommy Fury slams Jake Paul for making impossible fight offers
Announced today, Jake Paul will fight on Christmas Eve in Dubai for the first time since his devastating knockout loss to Anthony Joshua one year ago.
Paul's opponent is yet to be revealed, with a number of names linked with the fight, such as UFC star Darren Till.
However, the main name and longest-running rival is former foe, Tommy Fury, an enemy that Paul is desperate to even the score with.
The former professional boxer was forced to speak out after the recent fight news broke, posting on his Instagram story, "Just wanted to make it very clear as to why the rematch with Jake hasn’t happened yet," Fury wrote. "His team came to me when I already had an agreed date in place elsewhere.
"Why would I then agree to a fight with Jake or anyone of that fact when I had already committed to another fight. He made me an offer knowing full well about the other date. I said publicly that I would fight Jake anytime after that date. Jan, Feb, March... literally any time.
"Jake and his team love to play out to everyone that it’s me running from this fight when it’s very much the other way around."
The pair met in the ring back in February 2023, with TNT Tommy winning the scrappy fight by split decision over eight rounds, handing Paul his first professional defeat.
Since then, both men have been very vocal about their desire to book a rematch to settle the rivalry once and for all, with Paul's comeback in December believed to be a potential date for the fight.
As it stands, it is not known what Fury's next fight is, but we can now expect it to be announced in the near future if it's set to clash with Paul's comeback in December.
Instead, it's currently believed that former UFC star Darren Till is now the frontrunner to fight Paul after Nakisa Bidarian, who co-founded Most Valuable Promotions (MVP) with Paul, confirmed that talks had been held about the fight.
