Cissokho staking WBC Silver title against Kavaliauskas

Last December, Souleymane Cissokho (17-0, 9 KOs) and Egidijus Kavaliauskas (24-2-1, 19 KOs) were scheduled to face each other, but an injury sidelined the unbeaten Frenchman Souleymane, who announced before the fight that he had broken his hand in sparring during preparation.

The new date will be scheduled for Saturday, May 10, at the Sipopo Conference Center in Equatorial Guinea for Cissokho’s WBC Silver welterweight title.

Souleymane Cissokho , 33 from Paris, won the title by majority decision, against Tulani Mbenge in 2022. He successfully defended his belt once, defeating Isaias Lucero via UD in 2023. He didn't fight at all during 2024 due to his injury issues.

The Senegalese-born, French-based fighter has an undefeated record of 17 wins and 9 KOs. He won bronze at the Rio 2016 Olympics.

Egidijus Kavaliauskas , 36 from Lithuania, has a record of 24-2-1 and 19 knockouts. The "Mean Machine" was also an Olympian and won a World Championships bronze medal in 2011.

Managed by Egis Klimas, he challenged Terence Crawford the WBO welterweight title in 2019, losing in the ninth round. His only other defeat was to Vergil Ortiz Jr. in 2021, but he has bounced back to win two fights in 2022 and 2023.

They have both not fought since the end of 2023, so they will meet in the middle with the same inactivity.
