WBC bantamweight champion Junto “Big Bang” Nakatani once again demonstrated his dominance in the 118-pound weight class by defeating Ryosuke Nishida on Sunday, June 8th.
From the early rounds, “Big Bang” landed powerful blows to Nishida’s face, causing his right eye to gradually close.
Although Nishida managed to land some body blows, by the fifth round the damage to his eye was becoming apparent, and by the end of the sixth round, it was completely closed.
The doctor entered the ring to examine the injury and ruled that it was best for the Japanese fighter not to continue the bout.
Nakatini added a new world title, namely the IBF to his WBC Green and Gold plaudits and improved his record to 31 wins and 24 KOs.
Naoya Inoue, the undisputed super bantamweight champion and Nakatini’s possible next opponent, was present at the Ariake Arena watching from ringside.
