Jose Carlos Ramirez unifies against Maurice Hooker

WBC Super Lightweight champion, José Carlos Ramírez, successfully defended his crown by knocking out champion Maurice Hooker in the sixth round, in the main fight at “College Park Center “, of Arlington, Texas.

A left hook to the chin opened the way for Californian Ramirez to launch a sustained attack on Hooker, who was punished against the ropes, forcing referee Mark Nelson to stop the fight in the sixth stanza. Ramirez was ahead on two of the Judges' cards when the end came.

With the triumph, Ramirez, who was an Olympic boxer for the United States in London 2012, improved his professional record to 25-0 and 17 knockouts, while Hooker, who is promoted by Matchroom Boxing, lost his title and undefeated record to leave the ring with a record of  26-1-3 and 17 knockouts.

Prior to the fight, a tribute was paid to  deceased boxers Maxim “Mad Max” Dadashev and Hugo “Dinamita” Santillán, as well as to the legend Pernell “Sweet Pea” Whitaker, with the count of 10 bells in their honor as well as their everlasting memory.
