Jessica McCaskill causes upset and beats Cecilia Braekhus to become undisputed champion

McCaskill shocked the world winning by unanimous decision on the streets of downtown Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Jessica McCaskill defeated pound-for-pound queen Cecilia Braekhus on Saturday night sending shockwaves through the boxing community, after picking up the victory via a narrow majority decision by scores of 97-94, 97-93 and 95-95 to capture the WBA, WBC, IBF and WBO titles and become unlikely undisputed champion and ending Braekhus' 13-year undefeated spell.

'CasKILLA' was considered to have thrown a greater volume of punches throughout the fight, despite landing less in total, but boxed extremely well and composed in order to dethrone largely considered the toughest competitor in female boxing currently.

She said after the fight: "This is for the fourth-grade homeless Jessica, this is for the little girl that just didn’t care what people thought about her, and learned to love herself even though she was really weird. And for the me now that sacrifices everything to put this sport first and make a difference.

I just didn’t stop, I didn’t expect her to be as rough as she was, but I was ready to be as rough as I had to be and that’s what came out. Two hundred thirty more punches than she did. That shows you that I wanted it.”

Her opponent, Braekhus who has achieved so much in the sport hinted at retirement after her defeat on Saturday night, and believes now could potentially to retire with women's boxing becoming such a success story in recent years, and having won so many titles at the top level.

She said: "Jessica just threw more punches than me tonight. She really, really wanted it, I’m proud and happy to pass the torch to her. I have to say, I don’t know what’s going to happen right now, but I’m incredibly proud to be a part of women’s boxing right now. If this is my last fight, I can leave women’s boxing and say I was a part of this. I was a part of taking women’s boxing to this level and that will be my biggest achievement of all.

I’ve done so much and I miss my friends, my family, Women’s boxing is just in an amazing place right now, so they’ll do fine without me.”

Elsewhere on the card, Israil Madrimov won by uanimous decision against Eric Walker in the co-main event with scorecards at 116-111, 116-110, and 116-110, despite being caused problems throughout by Walker who was eventually dispatched in the later stages of the fight as Madrimov took control of the fight.

Nikita Ababiy 9-0, 6 KO) defeated Jarvis Williams (8-3-1, 5 KO) with scores of 58-56, 59-55, and 59-55, buf faced a tough challenge against the resolute Williams throughout the fight but was grateful to wear away any ring rust, chasing his path to the top.

Shakhram Giyasov (10-0, 8 KO) defeated Wiston Campos (31-8-6, 19 KO) via a third round stoppage, with Campos stepping in a week before the fight, and ultimately being dropped by a huge body shot.
