Jadier Herrera set to face WBC #2 ranked Ricardo Nunez in eliminator fight

The winner will become a mandatory challenger for Shakur Stevenson

On October 25, Jadier Hererra (17-0, 15KOs) will take on Ricardo Nunez (26-7, 22KOs) at the O2 Arena in London.

Cuban Herrera is coming off a victory in his last fight, whilst Ricardo Nunez is coming off a loss. Despite this, Nunez is ranked number two in the WBC rankings and will get a shot at the WBC lightweight championship if he is victorious in this fight.

Winning 15 of his last 17 fights by knockout, undefeated boxer Jadier 'One Billion' Herrera will be going into this fight full of confidence with plans continue his knockout streak. In his most recent fight, the Cuban southpaw defeated Oliver Flores by knockout in round three. 

After the fight, talks about a matchup involving Shakur Stevenson and Herrera were present, however New Jersey native Stevenson dismissed the fight on X.

“Bro, you can’t be serious. I don’t know this dude, never heard of him but he’s a--.

“They keep trying to direct me towards little kids I want big names only,” he wrote.

Herrera responded to the tweet insulting the Newark man’s boxing style.

The 22-year-old Cuban, who resides in Dubai, told Boxing News: “I have 14 knockouts, this guy only punch but I’m serious I have 14 knockouts, send me the contract.”

He added: “Of course I would accept it’s a big opportunity for me but I hit and he just punches he wants to score points but I hit to knockout. I will k--- you, send the contract”.

Herrera’s opponent, Ricardo Nunez may be coming off a loss to Jon Fernandez, however he has shared the ring against the better opposition. In 2019, Nunez took on Gervonta Davis in a fight that he lost, but the experience still stands with the Panama man who has 16 more fights than his undefeated opponent.
