Derek Chisora shocked following Anthony Joshua vs Jake Paul

Anthony Joshua (29-4, 26 KO’s) was under immense pressure to beat Jake Paul (12-2, 7 KO’s) last weekend, with the boxing world saying that serious questions had to be asked should ‘The Problem Child’ have found himself on the winning end of their Florida affair.

It did take Joshua longer than many expected, with the American surviving into the sixth round until a ferocious right hand dropped him to the canvas, breaking his jaw in two places.

Speaking after the fight, Joshua was disappointed in his performance but stated that he is lookingforward to a successful 2026 in the ring.

In the days following the bout, boxing's best have shared their thoughts on the bout, with a majority feeling that AJ put on a stellar performance, carrying out the task he was expected to.

Fellow British heavyweight Dillian Whyte has revealed that while the fight lasted longer than he had predicted, Joshua performed well, given the rules that were put in place to try and tip the scales in Paul’s favour.

“It’s about time. AJ did what he had to do then," Chisora told Seconds Out .

"Forget about everything else. I was one of the people saying if it goes past one or two rounds, we have to ask [questions]. But, you know what, the ring was too f—ing big … Jake didn’t want to fight, he was trying to wrestle AJ. AJ said it right the way – I’m gonna drain your soul and after that I’m gonna knock you out … He broke just f—ing jaw.”

It has yet to be revealed who AJ will next fight, though multiple 2026 dates are reportedly planned. The biggest being an eventual showdown with long-time rival Tyson Fury.

The bout is reportedly already signed, and AJ revealed post-fight that he is keen to finally put the rivalry to rest .
