Dave Allen reveals February 21 comeback fight and proposed opponent

Dave Allen continues to undersell as he announces his next opponent

Dave Allen’s (24-8-2, 19 KO’s) last outing proved an unsuccessful one. The British fan favourite looked to take his career to new heights, following victory over Johnny Fisher, challenging fearsome Russian powerhouse, Arslanbek Makhmudov. 

Allen put up a commendable effort, though ultimately found himself outskilled by the Russian, who comfortable boxed his way to a unanimous decision win. 

After a short layoff, it’s time for the ‘White Rhino’ to make his ring return, preparing to fight on the undercard of the Leigh Wood vs Josh Warrington rematch in Nottingham on February 21.

Posting on his YouTube channel, Allen revealed his scheduled opponent, though he was quick to admit that they are by no means high-level opposition. 

“My opponent, I think, is on the brink of being confirmed. I am boxing Karim Berredjem. Won 12 lost 10, French guy.

“Someone said to me the other day, ‘he is f***ing terrible him’. I said he is not bad; he’s not a world beater, but neither am I. A comeback fight for Tyson Fury is different to a comeback fight for me.

“So, if people want to buy a ticket to watch me box, I am very grateful. If you don’t, because you feel like the opposition isn’t great, it’s your money and I understand, you have got to do what you have got to do.

“I have had a watch of him, he is big and awkward, and he should take me [through some] rounds.”

Admittedly, Berredjem (12-10, 3 KO’s) is hardly a world beater, with just one fight since 2023 and just 25% of his wins coming within the distance.  

However, fresh off his eighth career loss, the Frenchman may be just what Allen needs to build his confidence back for yet another heavyweight hurrah.
