Conor Benn speaks out for the first time since his loss

Conor Benn was dropped and stopped by WBC World welterweight champion Ryan Garcia on September 12 in Las Vegas, live on DAZN.

Garcia's huge right hand caught Benn flush and he went down heavily. On returning to his feet, the Brit had to take some time to steady himself, which he eventually did, but after a barrage of unanswered shots, the referee rightfully stepped in to to stop the onslaught.

The beaten challenger was then taken to the hospital for further medical checks. And it was from there where he issued his first response to the devastating blow.

He wrote on X: "Not my night, no excuses. @RyanGarcia you’re a great champion [handshake emoji]."

The American will now be thrust into big unification fights on U.S. shores, with a clash against Teofimo Lopez laying in wait.

For Benn it is a challenging rebuild, but one that could still provide a lucrative path, with a trilogy against Chris Eubank Jr in the offing.

Eubank Jr was quick to put the boot in to his long-term foe after his defeat.

But talkSPORT's Adam Catterall suggested Benn did what he could.

He said: "A high-profile win for Ryan Garcia.

"But there are levels to this game, we said this in the build-up.

"It was the only way that Benn could fight, he had to put it on him. But in doing so he left himself wide open."

Meanwhile Gareth A Davies believes the sky is the limit for Garcia.

He added: "There are great nights ahead for Ryan Garcia.

"Garcia is an absolute superstar, he is crowned a great on Mexican Independence weekend.

"There could be the Devin Haney rematch, the Teofimo Lopez fight and potentially Shakur Stevenson.

"They will create massive nights as the protagonists twice a year for the sport."
