Connor Coghill hospitalised after four knockdowns in fight with Hopey Price

Connor Coghill (14-1, 7KO) was knocked down four times during his 12-round clash with Hopey Price (12-0 5KO) on October 7 in the Utilita Arena, Sheffield.

Featherweight prospect Price scored the victory over Hull's Coghill to retain his WBA Continental belt on the Leigh Wood vs Josh Warrington undercard, live on DAZN.

The southpaw from Leeds knocked out his challenger for the belt in round 12 after he was able to knock Coghill down once in the sixth round, again in the 11th round and twice more in the final round to remain unbeaten. The time of the stoppage was 1:29, just 91 seconds from the final bell.

Manager Stefy Bull announced, "We are saddened to confirm Connor is currently in hospital under observation after a scan has discovered a bleed on his brain.

"Connor has had headaches since his boxing contest last week in Sheffield. Obviously it’s devastating news for Connor, as boxing has been his life since a young age. He’s stable and resting and wanting people to respect his time during this difficult period.

"Everyone at Stefy Bull Promotions are praying for a full recovery and wish him good health."

Connor Coghill is a former IBO International super-bantamweight and reigning Central Area featherweight champion.
