Humbled Brandon Glanton has learnt from 'The Gentleman' Chris Billam-Smith

Brandon Glanton (21-3, 18 KOs) says his victory over Marcus Browne (25-3, 16 KOS) on Wednesday, October 1st in Lagos, Nigeria was especially sweet because of the disrespect shown beforehand.

Glanton vowed to never disrespect an opponent again after being taught a painful lesson by Brit Chris Billam-Smith in April 2025. 'The Gentleman' from Bournemouth defeated the Georgian Glanton unanimously at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium in London.

Ahead of the Glanton-Browne fight, the cruiserweights had to be separated by security guards during heated face-offs ahead of their headlining slot of the 'Chaos in the Ring' event, staged by AK Promotions and Balmoral Promotions.

Glanton defeated Browne at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena after the New Yorker failed to emerge from his corner for the start of the seventh round.

Glanton gave Browne a torrid time in the sixth stanza after weathering an early storm in the opening rounds of the bout. 'Bulletproof' Brandon's beating was so bad that Browne backed out of the bout abruptly after, opting to remain seated o his stool.

For the 33-year-old victor from Atlanta, it drew a line under the rivalry and bad blood that has been simmering for years.

The WBC #8 cruiserweight claims there were disrespectful comments made by Browne over six years ago about his family.

However, the stoppage win has now drawn a line over all that drama, for him, “It’s all in the past now,” Glanton said after his hand was raised. “I don’t have any hate for that man, I won.”

After Glanton who was beaten by former WBO cruiserweight champion Billam-Smith in England, the American came under fire for some disgraceful comments during the build-up to that fight, when he told his opponent he was going to give him brain damage and then suggested that Billam-Smith’s young son has a ‘b—h for a daddy’.

But it was fan-favourite CBS who made him eat his words after he won via a convincing unanimous decision.

“I disrespected somebody in England, I’ll never do that again,” Glanton reflected humbly. “Now this fight was especially sweet, not because it was for the most money or the biggest titles. I was disrespected by another man. We put our pants on the same, I didn’t appreciate being disrespected, I didn’t appreciate the comments that were made. I didn’t appreciate it back in 2019 when it all took place.

“But I told you the boy was going to quit. I told you he could fight but they said I couldn’t box. It’s all boxing; power, inside fighting, outside fighting, holding, great hands.

“You’ve got Caleb Plants, you’ve got Mike Tysons, you’ve for Amir Khans, you’ve got Mikey Garcias and you’ve got Brandon Glanton. It’s all different. I haven’t got to be fancy, I’m rough.”

The 33-year-old suggested that he would now like a second fight with Browne following this scheduled 10-rounder. “Now let’s do it over 12,” he said. “And make it count by getting a belt on the line.”

Browne, 34, was boxing for only the second time since he was stopped by Artur Beterbiev in 2021.
