Anthony Joshua was knocked down twice by unheralded Albanian Kristian Prenga in last night's heavyweight clash in Saudi Arabia.
On Saturday, July 25, in Riyadh, in his comeback fight, Briton Anthony Joshua found himself on the canvas within the first 20 seconds. A big right hook, followed by an uppercut on the inside had AJ rocked off his feet.
Another uppercut two minutes later made AJ's hands touch the canvas, counting as a second knockdown.
Joshua survived the round somehow and then the second round became even more dramatic. Bizarrely, Prenga came out defensively, boxing on the backfoot and allowing AJ to dictate the fight behind his jab. That allowed the Watford man to set up his signature right hand, which hurt the Albanian. Sensing vulnerability, a series of big right crosses on a static Prenga dropped him to the floor where he had no chance of recovering.
After surviving the scare, AJ said of his suprisingly tough opponent, "I'm still here talking to you now, he's a strong guy... I think Eddie Hearn wants to sign him now, he's going to do well, he's got a bright future!"
