Chantelle Cameron defeats Mikaela Mayer to become unified super-welterweight world champion

Chantelle Cameron and Mikaela Mayer deliver Fight of the Year contender

At Most Valuable Promotions’ MVPW-06 UK vs. USA tonight, the UK’s Chantelle Cameron (23-1, 8 KOs) became the new unified WBA, WBC and WBO super welterweight world champion with a career-best performance, Fight of the Year contender, and unanimous decision victory (97-93 x2, 96-94) over MVP’s and USA’s Mikaela Mayer (22-3, 5 KOs). Across the 10-round championship battle at 154 lbs.

Mayer established her jab early and used her range to keep Cameron at the end of her punches, while Cameron relentlessly pressed forward, finding success with right hands at close range and attacking the body from the fifth round on.

The action intensified down the stretch as Mayer was bloodied from the nose by the eighth round and Cameron suffered a cut around her left eye in the ninth round, with both champions continuing to trade through the closing seconds of the 10th round.

Cameron’s sustained pressure and work on the inside ultimately earned her the decision to become the new three belt world champion at 154 lbs. Following the fight, Cameron and Mayer confirmed in the ring that a rematch will be planned, with Cameron declaring she wants their second meeting contested over three-minute rounds.

The action-packed MVPW-06 UK vs. USA took place at bp pulse LIVE in Birmingham, England, live on Sky Sports in the UK and ESPN+ in the US, featuring a stacked main and preliminary card of talent from the UK, USA and around the world. The evening marked the five-year anniversary of Most Valuable Promotions following the company’s inception in 2021. As part of MVP’s Performance of the Night bonuses, Terri Harper earned £10,000 for her second-round TKO victory over Miranda Reyes, while Reina Tellez and Jessica Barry split a £10,000 bonus for their 10-round battle. Caroline Dubois, Terri Harper, Jessica Barry and Tysie Gallagher each earned an additional £5,000 for Team UK’s victory in the UK vs. USA competition, while Harper also earned the £5,000 OOOSCH Moment of the Night bonus. Notable attendees at MVPW-06 included MVP’s Alycia Baumgardner, Elif Turhan, Ebanie Bridges, Tiara Brown, and Elizabeth Oshoba, as well as Sheridan Smith, Molly “Meatball” McCann, Fabian Edwards, Joe Gallagher, Amber Moss Birch, Leo Atang, and Chloe Watson. 

Caroline Dubois vs Amelia Moore

In the co-main event, MVP and London’s unified WBC and WBO lightweight world champion Caroline Dubois (14-0-1, 5 KOs) successfully defended her world titles with a dominant unanimous decision victory (99-90 x2, 98-91) over the USA’s WBO #5 contender, two-time national champion and reigning NABF lightweight champion Amelia Moore (4-1, 1 KO) after 10 rounds at 135 lbs. Dubois established her range from the opening bell, controlling the early rounds with three-punch combinations and limiting Moore’s ability to establish her jab. In the fifth, Dubois sent Moore to the canvas with a combination, with the knockdown standing despite Moore protesting a head clash. Moore found her strongest success in the ninth, connecting with right hands and combinations on the inside, but Dubois remained in control through the final bell to earn the decision and retain her unified WBC and WBO lightweight world titles.

Reina Tellez vs Jessica Barry

In featherweight action, MVP and San Antonio, Texas, USA top contender Reina Tellez (14-1-1, 5 KOs) earned a hard-fought points victory (96-94) in a 10-round featherweight bout at 126lbs vs. Coventry, West Midlands, UK’s Jessica Barry (10-2, 2 KOs). Fighting for the first time since her January 2026 contention for the unified featherweight titles against MVP’s Amanda Serrano, Tellez established control early behind her jab and continued to find success with combinations through the middle rounds. The momentum shifted in the sixth when Tellez was deducted a point for repeated low blows, opening the door for Barry to increase the pressure. The pair traded heavy shots to the body throughout the rounds, with Barry continuing to press forward, but Tellez landed the cleaner, more impactful punches to secure the win.

Terri Harper vs Miranda Reyes

Also on the main card, the UK’s and MVP’s three-division world champion, #2 WBC and #4 IBF and WBO contender Terri Harper (17-3-2, 7 KOs) delivered a dominant second-round TKO victory over the USA’s and MVP’s #9 WBA and #10 WBO contender Miranda Reyes (9-4-1, 3 KOs) in their scheduled eight-round super lightweight bout at 140 lbs. Harper used her range and jab to begin overwhelming Reyes’ early attacks to the body in the opening round. Early in the second round, Harper caught Reyes coming forward with a left hand that sent her to the canvas. Reyes beat the count at eight, but Harper immediately pressed the action and connected with a short left hook that sent Reyes down again, prompting the referee to stop the contest at 0:47 of the second round, establishing Harper as a top contender at 140lbs as she continues her push to become a world champion in a fourth weight division.

Undercard

Opening the main card, MVP’s and Luton, Bedfordshire, UK’s Tysie Gallagher (11-2) earned a hard-fought points victory (77-75) over Chicago, USA’s Brandi Robinson (5-1, 1 KO) after an eight round super bantamweight bout at 122 lbs. The two battled at close range throughout, with Robinson, fighting outside the United States for the first time, pressing forward behind her jab and working to the body on the inside. Gallagher landed the more impactful shots, rocking Robinson with a left-right combination in the third round. After eight-full rounds, Gallagher continued to find success in the scrappy exchanges to edge Robinson on the scorecard and secure her 11th professional victory.

In the preliminary card headliner, MVP’s Indian boxing star Neeraj Goyat (21-4-2, 9 KOs) earned a dominant points victory (60-54) over Wiesbaden, Germany’s Yessin Koulali (8-2, 3 KOs) in their six-round super lightweight bout. Fighting in the UK for the first time in his professional career, Goyat established control early with his right hand before steadily increasing the pressure throughout the fight. Koulali found success with combinations early, but Goyat took clear command from the third round, walking down his opponent while mixing attacks to the head and body. Goyat repeatedly backed Koulali into the corners over the final two rounds to close out the commanding performance and sweep the scorecard.

Chelmsley Wood, West Midlands’ Scott Melvin (13-1, 3 KOs) avenged the only loss of his professional career with a sixth-round TKO victory over Coventry, West Midlands’ Dylan Cheema (11-4, 3 KOs) in their super lightweight bout at 140 lbs. The pair previously met in April 2022, where Cheema handed Melvin his lone professional defeat. In Saturday’s rematch, Melvin began to take control in the fifth round, finding success with combinations of left hands as Cheema continued to target the body. Melvin then turned the tables in the sixth, dropping Cheema with a right hand to the body for an eight count before another combination downstairs prompted the referee to stop the contest at 2:33, giving Melvin redemption four years after their first meeting.

MVP and Watford, Hertfordshire’s Shannon Courtenay (11-3-1, 4 KOs) and Rowley Regis, West Midlands’ Ebonie Cotton (2-2-1) fought to a draw (57-57) after six closely contested rounds in their super flyweight bout at 115 lbs. Cotton applied pressure through the middle rounds, working behind her jab and finding success with her left hand, while Courtenay responded with effective counterpunching and body work. Courtenay found success with a right hand and hook in the fifth and landed an uppercut on the inside late in the sixth, but both fighters continued to trade through the final bell to cap off a competitive back-and-forth battle.

Also on the preliminary card, Scunthorpe, Lincolnshire’s undefeated Gemma Richardson (5-0, 1 KO) turned in a commanding performance against Pensnett, West Midlands’ Kirstie Bavington (10-6-2, 2 KOs), earning a points victory (60-54) after six rounds in their super lightweight bout at 140 lbs. Richardson consistently beat Bavington to the punch on the inside, stringing together clean combinations while working effectively to the body. Bavington continued to press forward and found moments of success with flurries throughout the fight, but Richardson’s sharper work and combination punching ultimately controlled the action as she swept the scorecard to remain undefeated.

In super lightweight action, Wolverhampton’s Brandon Bethell (8-1, 1 KO) earned a dominant points victory (60-54) over Mexico City’s Jorge Luis Huerta (4-21, 1 KO) in their six-round super lightweight bout. Opening the preliminary card, Walsall, West Midlands’ undefeated Hamza Uddin (7-0, 4 KOs) delivered an impressive second-round TKO victory over Tanzania’s Jemsi Kibazange (22-16-4, 8 KOs) in their scheduled six-round flyweight bout at 112 lbs. Uddin took control from the opening bell before bringing the contest to an early close at 1:58 of the second round, earning the fourth knockout victory of his professional career.
