History-making boxing prodigy set for all-Mexican world title defence
“La Magnífica” to defend her WBC World Championship against Perla Pérez in San Luis Potosí

Camila Zamorano to defend her WBC World Championship against Perla Pérez in San Luis Potosí
WBC Atomweight World Champion Camila “La Magnífica” Zamorano (14-0, 1 KO) is ready to make another defence of her green and gold crown when she faces fellow Mexican Perla Pérez (9-9, 1 KO) in San Luis Potosí, Mexico, on August 29th.
At just 18-years-old, Zamorano has become one of the brightest young prospects in Mexican women’s boxing.
The Sonora Star made history by capturing the WBC Atomweight World Championship at just 17-years-old, building a career that has drawn attention for her talent, discipline, and maturity inside the ring.
She will now face an experienced and motivated challenger, as Perla Pérez will look to seize this opportunity to capture the World Championship and score the biggest victory of her 14-year-long professional career.
The bout will match two Mexican fighters with markedly different styles against one another, but with the same objective: leaving the ring with the WBC Green and Gold Belt.
For Zamorano, this fight represents another opportunity to reaffirm her position as one of the most promising young figures in international boxing. Camila has been boxing since the age of 11 and compiled an impressive 53-4 amateur record, winning multiple regional and national titles. Due to difficulties finding opponents he own age, she turned pro whilst still in high school.
Despite being elevated from Interim champion to World champion when Tina Rupprecht retired in October 2025, she has successfully defended her title twice already, and now intends to make it a hattrick.
Every successful defence strengthens her legacy and brings her closer to the great names who have shaped the history of Mexican boxing.
Pérez, meanwhile, enters the bout determined to prove that she has the tools necessary to dethrone the champion and write her name among the WBC’s world champions.
Nicknamed "Pulga", seven of her nine losses came in the first half of her career, but she has since only lost two from her last 11 contests.
She won the WBC Latino atomweight title in her last fight in July 2025. She has previously challenged for WBC and IBF Interim titles at minimumweight, so is no stranger to world championship challenges.
Mexican fans will witness an exciting clash of talent, experience, and ambition in a fight that promises action from beginning to end.
DID YOU KNOW? At 17 years and 293 days, Camila Zamorano became the youngest female to win a WBC world title and also the first-ever from Sonora to do so.
