Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua set for December 11 in Cardiff

Tyson Fury (36-2-1, 25 KOs) vs Anthony Joshua (30-4, 27 KOs) is all confirmed for Friday, December 11 in Cardiff, according to respected journalist Dan Rafael.

The American writer tweeted: "NEWS: Per source with direct involvement. Joshua-Fury, if all is 100% buttoned up, will be on Dec. 11 in Cardiff. Still will take some time to wrap up the bureaucracy of getting permits in place Nov. 28 and Dec. 4 were also dates part of the discussion."

A Friday night fight event on December 11 in Wales would likely extend into early Saturday morning to suit U.S. audiences. The main event would be scheduled from 1pm UK time so that American viewers can tune in at around 8pm Friday night. The fight will be shown live on Netflix.

The Principality Stadium in Cardiff has a capacity of 73,931 for football and rugby events, but it increases to 78,000 for boxing when part of the pitch can be covered and filled with additional seating.

The national stadium's retractable roof is what has made it a stronger choice of venue than Wembley Stadium and has more flexible arrangements for late night licences, having held big boxing events in the past.

The location previously played host to Joshua's triumph over Carlos Takam in 2017, attracting a crowd of 78,000 fans. AJ returned to face Joseph Parker at the same venue the following year. And Joe Calzaghe famously took on Mikkel Kessler there in 2007 in a bout that also began at 2am.

Back in July, a spokesman for the the Welsh Rugby Union expressed their interest in hosting the megafight, "We'd be delighted to host this fight. We are very keen to attract more boxing to the stadium, which has a rich history in the sport, enhanced by its closable roof, unrivalled sight lines and unique city-centre location."

The rivalry between Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury goes back over a decade to an infamous sparring session between the pair when AJ was an unknown amateur and Fury was an unbeaten pro.

36-year-old Joshua comes into the contest off the back of a dramatic second-round stoppage over Kristian Prenga, where he had to pick himself off the canvas twice in the first round on July 25th. It was the Londoner's first fight back since his fatal car crash in December 2025, where two of his trainers and close friends died at the scene.

The very night before that, 38-year-old Fury stopped 46-year-old Mariusz Wach after seven rounds in an understated event in Thailand.

Both have lost back-to-back world title fights with Oleksandr Usyk during their careers, who is a two-time undisputed heavyweight champion.

Neither British boxer impressed in their previous punch-ups and most fight fans have become bored and frustrated with any talks of this fight after such a long delay.
