Three new WBC champions crowned in Bangkok

OPBF results from Bangkok: Ping Tai Ng, Hayate Hanada, and Ryo Mandokoro attain titles in Thailand

Promoter Wong Fei delivered an action-packed fight card on August 7 in Bangkok, Thailand, featuring three WBC Oriental and Pacific Boxing Federation (OPBF) titles on the line under the supervision of Tsuyoshi Yasukochi.

Ping Tai Ng crowned light-heavyweight champion

In the main event for the vacant OPBF light heavyweight title, Hong Kong’s powerful Ping Tai Ng (12-2, 9 KOs) put on a dominant performance, stopping local favourite Somphot Seesa (16-11-1, 8 KOs) via technical knockout at 1:32 of the fifth round.

Referee Armand Garcia stepped in to halt the bout following sustained pressure from 36-year-old "Tyson Ng", who officially claimed the 175-pound WBC OPBF crown.

It was Ping Tai NG's first fight of the year, having last lost in October 2025 when defending his WBC Asian super-middleweight belt to India's Harpreet Singh.

Hayate Hanada captures Silver super-flyweight title in thriller

In a fiercely contested battle, Japan’s Hayate Hanada (7-1-1, 3 KOs) secured the OPBF Silver super-flyweight championship with a split-decision victory over Indonesia’s Vanlalenkawitera (7-1-2).

After 10 gruelling rounds, the judges’ scorecards favoured the Japanese fighter: Joshua Hamilton scored it 97-93 for Vanlalenkawitera, while Armand Garcia (98-92) and Yang Hui Juk (97-93) awarded the victory to Hanada. Koji Tanaka served as the referee.

The 24-year-old from Osaka is now on a seven-fight win streak after suffering from a stoppage loss in his second pro contest in 2023. The ambitious youngster jumped into an eight-rounder in his second bout and was cruelly stopped in the last round with just two minutes to go.

Last October, Hanada picked up the IBF Youth super-flyweight title with a dominant unanimous decision victory in Kyrgyzstan.

Ryo Mandokoro secures TKO victory at flyweight

Capping off a successful night for Japanese boxing, undefeated rising star Ryo Mandokoro (9-0, 6 KOs) captured the OPBF Silver flyweight title by stopping China’s Wei Song (6-3-1) at 1:44 of the eighth round.

26-year-old prospect Mandokoro unleashed a decisive flurry of punches in the eighth frame, forcing referee Yang Hui Juk to stop the fight.

It's the Osaka man's second consecutive stoppage win within two months, and takes his KO ratio up to a respectable 66%. One to watch...
