Skye Nicolson withdraws from Miyo Yoshida world title fight

Skye Nicolson is out, India’s #1 boxer steps in

MVP today announced that the promotions’ newest signing, Australia’s two division world champion, reigning WBC super bantamweight ruler at 122lbs, and 2020 Australian Olympian Skye Nicolson (16-1, 3 KOs) has regrettably been forced to withdraw from the MVPW-06 UK vs. USA show due to injury.

Nicolson last week was announced as the first fighter to sign with MVP under the promotions’ landmark strategic alliance with Matchroom Boxing focused on accelerating the global growth of women's boxing.

MVP also announced two additional updates, including MVP’s Commonwealth, British and WBO International titlist Tysie Gallagher (10-2), from Luton, who will now appear on the main card against an unnamed opponent in an 8-round super bantamweight bout at 122lbs.

Joining the undercard will be India’s #1 boxer, MVP’s Neeraj Goyat (20-4-2, 9 KOs) vs. Germany’s Yessin Koulai (8-1, 3 KOs) in a 6-round super lightweight bout.

Gallagher joins a main card of decorated current and former champions and top contenders, headlined by a rarely-seen pound-for-pound clash between the USA's unified WBA and WBC champion and ESPN’s #7 P4P Mikaela Mayer vs. the UK's WBO champion and ESPN’s #5 P4P Chantelle Cameron in a 10-round title unification at 154lbs.

In the co-main event, London, UK’s unified WBC and WBO lightweight world champion Caroline Dubois will face the USA’s WBO #5 contender, 2x national champion, and reigning NABF lightweight champion Amelia Moore in a 10-round defense at 135lbs.

A saddened Skye Nicolson said: “I’m devastated to announce that, due to sustaining an injury in training last week, I have had to withdraw from my scheduled fight in Birmingham on Saturday, August 29. I’d like to sincerely apologise to Miyo Yoshida and her team for this delay. I have nothing but respect for Miyo and I’m looking forward to finally sharing the ring with her before the end of the year. The positive news is that while I’m recovering, I’ll be heading to Orlando this weekend for the MVPW-05 event, where I’m excited to support my fellow Australian World Champions and many other incredible athletes. A new date for my fight with Yoshida will be locked in very soon, and I can’t wait to get back in the gym, back to full health, and back doing what I love. Thank you to everyone for your continued support and understanding.”

Tysie Gallagher vs TBA

Luton, Bedfordshire’s Tysie “The First Lady” Gallagher has established herself as one of the UK's most accomplished female fighters.

She began boxing at age 10 and had a decorated amateur career spanning 35 bouts, winning two national titles, twice reaching the ABA Senior Elite Championship finals, and represented England on the international stage.

Since turning pro, Gallagher made history when she became the first-ever female British super bantamweight champion, while also capturing the Commonwealth and WBO International titles at 122lbs.

Now ranked IBF #5, Gallagher has emerged as one of the leading contenders in the super bantamweight division.

In November 2023, she challenged Segolene Lefebvre for the WBO world title in just her eighth pro fight. Gallagher most recently earned a unanimous decision win over challenger Ellie Hellewell in defense of her Commonwealth, BBBoC British, and WBO International titles in September 2025.

She was initially scheduled to compete on MVP’s UK debut event, MVPW-01, in April 2026, but was forced out with injury. Outside the ring, she is a proud mother to her seven-year-old daughter.

Neeraj Goyat vs Yessin Koulali

Neeraj Goyat, born in Begampur, Karnal, Haryana, India, began his amateur boxing career in 2006 while attending the Army Sports Institute and quickly began his rise to the top, winning gold in 2008 in the Youth National Tournament.

Goyat is a three-time WBC Asia title holder in 2015, 2016, and 2017, was named “Honorary Boxer of the Year” in 2017 by WBC Asia, and was the first Indian boxer ever to make the WBC World Rankings.

He was hurt in a car accident in 2019, which postponed a mega fight in the works against Amir Khan, but has since resumed fighting and continues his hunt for greatness.

In spring 2024, he surged to the forefront of fighter attention worldwide via his viral social media campaign to fight MVP co-founder and international superstar Jake Paul, which culminated with Goyat traveling to San Juan, Puerto Rico to face off with Paul in person, ultimately signing to MVP.

Goyat’s callout and subsequent faceoff set off a seismic wave of engagement across social media, garnering well over 150M views on his social media alone. Goyat made his MVP debut on the main card of Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson against Brazilian superstar Whindersson Nunes. He most recently returned to the ring in June 2026 to defeat Mark Urvanov by fifth round TKO. He trains under Kuldeep Keepa.

Yessin Koulali is a 22 year old contender from Wiesbaden, Germany. Boasting a six-win streak, he made his pro debut in 2024 with a dominant points win. He most recently defeated Atilla Kayabasi by decision in May 2026. Following his career to date in Germany, he will look to prove himself in his international debut on Saturday, August 29 against Neeraj Goyat.

The preliminary card of MVPW-06 will also feature Scunthorpe, Lincolnshire’s Gemma Richardson (4-0, 1 KO) vs. Wolverhampton, West Midlands’ 2x European champion Kirstie Bavington (10-5-2, 2 KOs) in a 6-round super lightweight bout at 140lbs, Brandon Bethall (7-1, 1 KO) against a to-be-named opponent in a 6-round super featherweight bout, Chelmsley Wood, West Midlands’ Scott Melvin (12-1, 2 KOs) in a rematch against Coventry, West Midlands’ Dylan Cheema (11-3, 3 KOs) in an 8-round, lightweight bout at 135bs, and Walsall, West Midlands ‘ Hamza Uddin (6-0, 3 KOs) vs. Tanzania’s Jemsi Kibazange (22-15-4, 8 KOs) in a 6-round flyweight bout at 112lbs.
