Claressa Shields returns to the WBC middleweight division with a jolting TKO of Kaye Scott

Claressa Shields returns to the top of the WBC middleweight division with a jolting TKO of Kaye Scott
In the main event of the card at State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia, on August 15, Claressa Shields (19-0, 4 KOs) faced Australia’s Kaye Scott (5-2-1), who entered the bout as the reigning WBA and WBC female middleweight champion.
From the opening rounds, Michigan's Shields imposed her speed, precision, savvy and experience. The American consistently found openings for her combinations and controlled the pace of the fight, while defending champ Scott attempted to respond to the challenger’s intense pressure.
The fight reached the sixth round, when Shields intensified her attack and put the 42-year-old champion in serious trouble. Following a series of punches and a powerful combination, the bout was stopped in the sixth stanza, with Shields earning the victory by technical knockout.
With this result, Claressa Shields reclaimed the WBC Middleweight World Championship and added another chapter to her historic career in women’s boxing.
For Kaye Scott, the defeat brought her reign to an end, but also marked another valuable experience against one of the greatest boxers of all time.
Shields has once again reached the top of the 160-pound division, making it clear that there is still much more to write in her extraordinary legacy.
Bernice Ferreira crowned WBC super-featherweight world champion
South African boxer Bernice Ferreira defeated Canada’s Caroline Veyre by disqualification in one of the supporting bouts of the Claressa Shields vs. Kaye Scott card in Atlanta.
Veyre entered the ring as the reigning WBC World Champion and started the fight strongly, particularly with solid body shots. Ferreira, however, maintained the pressure as the bout became increasingly physical.
Veyre’s constant clinching repeatedly forced the referee to intervene. In the fourth round, the Canadian was deducted her first point for the infraction.
The situation continued in the following rounds. After Veyre was deducted two points, the referee determined that the excessive clinching had gone too far and stopped the fight in the eighth round, awarding Ferreira the victory by disqualification.
With the result, Bernice Ferreira captured the WBC Super Featherweight World Championship and remained undefeated, improving her record to 11-0, with four knockouts.
For Caroline Veyre, the result marked the second defeat of her professional career, bringing her record to 11-2.
Ferreira leaves Atlanta as the new WBC Super Featherweight World Champion and begins a new chapter in the division.

Reactions to Shields' win over Scott
@TreasureBoxing: No female can test her. One of One! #GWOAT
@shoedude721: Shields beat a 42 year old who had a whopping 6 professional fights to her name. Is this a joke? Who’s she’s gonna box next? A cashier from walmart?
@EvaMcc90: That Heffa! Got hands of Steel. Killeum baby~girl!!! She is a true example of stay consistent and forget the negative talk… Claressa is and will remain absolutely the Female GWOAT.. I love you Beautiful@TJHarlemBoy: The promoters have to find Shields better competition or her fights will stop selling.@Nino_unique2: Embarrassing, fighting 45 year old MILFs who only have 5 pro fights. Tell Claressa Shields to fight Tammara Thibeault!@pkboxing: heavyweight moves down to take 5-1-1's middleweight title... hmm@GoatIsHim2323: Gotta give her well deserved credit. Even though she fought a 42 year old with a limited amount of pro fights Shields looked good and sharp. That was a vicious left to basically put her to bed. Is Katie Taylor not around 160?@JamesGTV: Shame this is not being called out for what it really is by the boxing world at large. 6 pro fights, no ko power but SOMEHOW held 2 titles? It was obvious Shields was going to blow her away! Yet smoke gets blown up Shields arse for defeating fighters of this caliber?
