Daniel Dubois provides prediction for Joe Joyce vs Filip Hrgovic, as two boxers he has already shared the ring with

Joe Joyce and Filip Hrgovic are set to lock horns this Saturday, April 5, at the Co-op Live Arena in Manchester, live on DAZN, to restart a rivalry that begun over a decade ago.

Both are former no.1 contenders, who enter the contest off the back of a defeat, and this crucial clash is a must-win fight. The winner will get back in contention and the loser could be closing the curtains on their career.

Home fighter, Joyce, is currently the underdog, with the Croatian visitor the favourite at the bookies. However, 12 years ago in 2013, it was Joyce who triumphed over the ‘Animal’ when they met over five rounds at the York Hall in the World Series Boxing tournament.

Dubois sensationally lost to Joyce in 2020, via a 10th-round knockout, where 'DDD' suffered from a fractured eyesocket after being peppered by 'JJJ's' jab all night.

But then, Dubois defeated Hrgovic in 2024 to win the IBF Interim heavyweight belt, which was later upgraded to the full world title when Usyk vacated. After knocking out Anthony Joshua in five rounds last September, Dubois finally became a legitimate world champion.

Speaking to Podlounge, the shared opponent was asked how he believes the 10-round heavyweight contest between the two plays out.

“I think Hrgovic can win it, he’s got a good style," Dubois "He’s had the time to rebuild so I’m looking forward to it.

"It’s interesting, is Joe going to come in and maul him? I’m looking forward to it to see what Hrgovic is like now. I heard an interview the other day where he said he’s ready and means business, so we’ll see.”
