Tim Rickson, BBN Editor: Nick Ball is 10 years TJ Doheny's junior. The world champ is on the ascendency, whereas the former world champ is in the twilight of his 13-year pro career.
However, the Irishman is known as 'The Power' for a reason, his last six wins have all come by KO - all within five rounds. He averages a knockout every 3.7 rounds.
Against Inoue, he was able to land some big shots on the Japanese 'Monster' to win a couple of rounds, before he limped away to his corner in the seventh with an injury.
For me, Ball is going to bring even more pressure and volume than Inoue did, plus he has a point to prove after being so vocal about wanting that fight next. He is going to be motivated to trump Inoue by stopping his man within the first six rounds.
But Ball has always had a maturity beyond his years and won't go looking for the knockout unnecessarily or get complacent by being overeager or impatient, plus he has one of the world's best coaches in the corner, Paul Stevenson, who Nick will listen to and follow his instructions to the letter.
Ball has power from the first to the last round, evidenced by his brace of first-round and 12th-round KOs in recent fights. He is throwback fighter who tries to knock his opponents out with every punch he throws, and I agree with Tony Bellew when he says he is the most exciting boxer to watch in Britain right now.
