María Micheo and Mai Soliman fight to a draw in WBC super-flyweight final eliminator

María Micheo Santizo (14-7, 2 KOs) and world title contender Mai Soliman (10-2-1, 2 KOs) fought to a draw after 10 rounds in a WBC super-flyweight final eliminator in California on September 26.

The Guatemalan and the Australian constantly traded punches throughout a closely contested fight.

41-year-old Micheo found success with her left hooks, while Egyptian-born Soliman finished the final round strongly.

The scorecards reflected very differing views at ringside: one judge had it 99–91 for Soliman, another scored it 97–93 for Micheo, and the third saw it 95–95. The official result was a split draw.

Neither fighter secured the win she sought in a bout with implications for their world title ambitions at 115 pounds. After 10 tight rounds, the race for a title opportunity remains open.
