Yesenia Gomez finally able to defend her WBC title

WBC light-flyweight world champion, Yesenia Gómez (17-5-3, 6KOs), 24 from Cancun, was on the World Boxing Council's popular weekly feature “Coffee Tuesdays” to talk to the boxing press about her return to the ring after almost one year without activity.

“The Slender Defender”  will face 21-year-old Mexican Mirna Sánchez (5-0-1, 2KOs) in a fight that promises to be both lively and eventful, as for her is imperative to show that inactivity has not affected or blunted her ring craft sharpness. On  the contrary, she assured that the public will enjoy a further refined and version of her boxing skills.

She assured that during the pandemic she has worked extra hard and has not neglected her weight or her physical condition, so she trusts that her experience plus maturity as a champion in addition to the excellent preparation she carried out will earn her victory.

Yesenia thanked Cancun Boxing and the WBC for considering her to be part of this great card that will also have an audience for the first time in Mexico, something that has not happened since the pandemic began.

The live event is set to take place at the Grand Oasis Arena in Cancun on October 31, with Mariana “Barby” Juárez (59-9-4, 18KOs) headlining against the dangerous Yulihan “Cobrita” Luna (19-3-1, 3KOs) in a defence of her WBC bantamweight belt.

WBC world bantamweight champion Mariana “Barby” Juarez was also one of the guests of honor at the “Coffee Crème Tuesday,” where she spoke about the upcoming defense of her crown this coming October 31st in sun kissed Cancun, against  dangerous and ambitious rival, Yulihan Alejandra Luna Avila.

For the seasoned and versatile bantamweight champion, it is imperative to convincingly defend her crown against  a quality rival, who will really demand the very best of herself, as after so many months of inactivity, the public deserves to have an exciting fight, with an absolute guarantee of a great show, just in a similar fashion to Juan Francisco Estrada and Carlos Cuadras, whom she warmly congratulated for an outstanding contest.

Mariana, stated she`s really looking forward to finally getting back into  the ring,  despite the pandemic. She has not stopped training and above all, she`s taken significant care of her strict diet, which she`s combined with a convincingly strong preparation. Mariana is confident that her experience, high boxing IQ  and her ever vigilant physical preparation,  will give her the all important  edge of advantage.

Looking forward to  2021, Mariana is absolutely determined to press ahead with the hitherto postponed classic against Jackie Nava that was scheduled for May, but also to make history by becoming the new super bantamweight champion, a crown that is currently in the very capable hands of Yamileth Mercado.
