WBO Interim heavyweight champion Joseph Parker believes he has the plan to beat Oleksandr Usyk, stating that the only way to hand the Ukrainian his first loss is to sustain constant pressure and to match him for punch output.

Parker told Kieran Ekeledo: "With Usyk, he's a superior boxer and a very good technician. Ring IQ is very good. You have to apply pressure and match him for punches. He throws a lot of punches, you have to be very fit, have good endurance, and be able to sustain that from the first round to the last round."

Usyk is 24 fights unbeaten as a pro and has won all the world titles at cruiserweight and heavyweight, making history as the first boxer to ever become undisputed in two weight divisions in a four-belt era.

Aged 38, the southpaw from Ukraine has already told Parker that he needs to rest and spend time with his family.

The New Zealander approached Usyk in the ring immediately after he dispatched of Daniel Dubois in five rounds at Wembley Stadium in July.

The 33-year-old from Auckland told Usyk face-to-face, "I'm next."

The WBO have ruled that the heavyweights have 30 days to reach an agreement to fight or purse bids will be called. That ruling was issued on July 22, so the two parties only have days remaining.
