Jeamie TKV backs Fabio Wardley to "get the job done"

British heavyweight title contender Jeamie Tshikeva has boldly backed his teammate Fabio Wardley to beat Oleksandr Usyk, should they meet.

The 31-year-old from Tottenham trains alongside Ipswich's Fabio, who defeated WBO Interim heavyweight holder Joseph Parker on October 25 to now be first in line to challenge the undisputed heavyweight champion from Ukraine.

In an interview with Betfred, TKV heaped praise upon his fellow Brit, “Fabio’s a special fighter and he keeps proving it time and time again. I’ve been sparring Fabio even before I was with Ben Davison. I’ve been sparring with him since 2020 or 2021 and they’re always great. I help him for his fights and he helps me for my fights. He helped me for the [David] Adeleye fight and I helped him for the Justis Huni fight.

“As you know, Fabio likes to come for a scrap and the same fighter you see on fight night is the same fighter you see in the gym. It doesn’t matter what you’re doing in sparring, what matters is what you do in the ring and I feel like his power is impressive because he’s turning up on the night and he’s laying people out.

“He reminds me of George Foreman because people don’t realise that Foreman went to the Olympics and won after only a year of boxing and then quickly won the world title. That’s exactly what Fabio is doing by not having a long amateur career and then going on to do big things. He could be as big a puncher as George Foreman. I feel like he will be a part of history someday as one of the biggest punchers.”

On the prospect of Fabio Wardley challenging Oleksandr Usyk, Jeamie TKV boldly backed his fellow Brit, “He literally has a chance of knocking out Usyk. If he has a chance of hurting him, then I can see him staying on top of Usyk and actually stopping him. I believe in Fabio to get the job done.

“His style is very unorthodox and people don’t realise that he’s very athletic. I can see him catching Usyk with a shot that might hurt him, but let’s see because Usyk is a special fighter and it’s hard to see him getting beat, but I’d put my money on Fabio to do something.”

Jeamie TKV is in training presently, due to fight Frazer Clarke for the vacant British heavyweight title, live on BBC, in the main event of the BOXXER show in Derby on November 29.
