How to watch Ricardo Sandoval vs Sergio Mendoza

Ricardo “El Niño” Sandoval will make the first defense of his WBC Flyweight World Title on Saturday, October 10, against Mexico’s Sergio Alfonso “Yoreme” Mendoza at Wintrust Arena in Chicago, Illinois.

Sandoval was originally scheduled to face Oscar Collazo, who withdrew after suffering a rib injury during training camp. Mendoza stepped in and will now have the opportunity to claim the Green and Gold Belt against a champion looking to establish his reign.

Sandoval, a Mexican-American with a record of 27 wins, two losses, and 18 knockouts, captured the world title on July 30, 2025, by defeating Kenshiro Teraji in Japan. His road to that achievement included winning the WBC Silver Flyweight Title in 2024 with a tenth-round knockout of Ángel Acosta.

Mendoza enters the fight with 27 wins and one loss, including 23 victories by knockout.

The Sonora fighter’s  accomplishments include winning the WBC FECARBOX Flyweight Championship in 2021 and 2022, defeating Arturo Segundo and Francisco Gómez by sixth-round knockout.

Sandoval’s first defense will pit his championship experience against the punching power of a Mexican challenger determined to seize the biggest opportunity of his career.
