Gohan Rodriguez Garcia all set for WBC Silver super-flyweight title defence

Gohan Rodríguez (20-4-1, 3 KOs) will return to fight in front of his home crowd on Saturday, October 10, defending his WBC Silver Super Flyweight Title against Japan’s Joe Shiraishi (12-2-1, 6 KOs) at the Palenque Vicente Fernández at the Expo Feria grounds in Gómez Palacio, Durango.

The Mexican champion will look to retain his belt at the same venue where he won it, facing a Japanese challenger determined to take the title home. The bout presents another test for Rodríguez as he looks to build on his title-winning performance.

Gohan captured the championship on March 21 with a unanimous decision over Nicaragua’s Cristofer Rosales. Defeating a former world champion marked an important step in his career and brought new responsibilities as a WBC Silver champion.

Now, Rodríguez will aim to follow that achievement with a successful defense against Shiraishi. Backed by the Gómez Palacio fans, he will headline an international card that will also showcase local talent.
