Eddie Hearn quietly confident Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury will eventually fight

Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn , in an interview with Betfred , has claimed his heavyweight charge, Anthony Joshua, is waiting on a phone call from Tyson Fury for a potential bout and believes 'The Gypsy King' will want to “help deliver the biggest fight in the history of British boxing.”

The 45-year-old British promoter has worked with Joshua ever since he turned pro in 2013, after winning gold at the London 2012 Olympics.

Hearn said, “I get asked all the time what’s next for AJ and the honest answer is, I don’t really know and we’re not in any rush because of a number of things. Will Tyson Fury re-emerge? What will happen in [Oleksandr] Usyk versus [Daniel] Dubois? Will Deontay Wilder be ready for a big fight? What’s Joseph Parker going to do? What’s [Agit] Kabayel going to do?

“AJ’s that big that he can pull in any fight he wants at any time, but one he can’t do is Fury because we’re waiting on Fury for that fight. Whilst he’s not ready to start full-time camp, we’re prepared to just sit and chill and see what happens.”

When touching on a potential fight with Tyson Fury, the Matchroom sport Chairman answered: “If I was to bet on it, I would bet that he will return. At the same time, you don’t know what he’s thinking and I’ll say what I’ve said before, his two performances against Usyk were very good. There were no signs that he was deteriorating in the fight and that he’s not the fighter he once was. In that respect, you’ve pretty much got two fighters in their prime and that’s appealing for the fight.

“I just think Tyson at some point is going to sit there and go, 'Yeah, let’s do it', because he knows he can help deliver the biggest fight in the history of British boxing, but it’s going to have to be on him. When he reaches out to AJ, or however it plays out, the fight’s going to get made in a phone call, so I guess we’ll just have to wait on that phone call.”
