Joe Joyce will face Filip Hrgovic on April 5
After Dillian Whyte withdrew from his April 5th fight with Joe Joyce earlier this morning, a replacement opponent has already been found - Filip Hrgovic.
Whyte injured his hand during training, so Queensberry issued a statement to confirm his withdrawal on March 4th.
'JJJ' will now match with Croatian heavyweight Filip Hrgovic at the Co-op Live Arena in Manchester on Saturday, April 5th.
"Joe has no interest in dropping below world level and choosing Filip Hrgovic, with an 18-1 record and only loss coming to world champion Dubois, proves that once again," a reputable source said.
"If there's one thing British boxing fans know about Joe, it's that he will fight anyone and everyone."
The pairing will reignite a rivalry from the amateurs after they clashed in 2013, where Joyce emerged victorious after five close rounds of action in the World Series Boxing.
Both boxers enjoyed illustrious amateurs careers and, as pros, they each managed to reach No.1 in the world rankings - Hrgovic with the IBF and Joyce with the WBO.
They each conceded an Interim world title, Hrgovic was relieved by an opponent Joyce once beat - Daniel Dubois - and his WBO belt was taken by Zhilei Zhang, who knocked him out in back to back fights in 2023.
