Dalton Smith vs Alberto Puello fight week events announced

World Champion Dalton Smith showed off his impressive Spanish-speaking skills to remind rival Alberto Puello that he’s in “his house now” as the pair faced off in front of thousands of Sheffield Wednesday fans at Hillsborough on Saturday.

Smith defends his WBC World Super Lightweight Championship for the first time next weekend, on Saturday 24 October, at Sheffield’s Utilita Arena – live worldwide on the Global Home of Boxing, DAZN.

Smith, who captured the crown last January in a thrilling away-day triumph over Subriel Matias, warned former two-time World Champion Puello that he would not be surrendering the coveted Green & Gold belt in front of his home fans.

Smith told Puello, surprising the Dominican by speaking in his native Spanish: “This is my house. You’re in my house now, my friend. You’re already looking skinny.”

Puello retorted: “It’s coming with me now. It’s coming home with me.”

The pair headline a blockbuster card in the Steel City, featuring Giorgio Visioli taking on Maxi Hughes for the WBC International Silver Lightweight Title, alongside Shannon Ryan and Emma Dolan, who square off in a rematch for the British, Commonwealth and IBF Intercontinental Titles.

Exciting North East Cruiserweight prospect Divine Omojor makes his eagerly awaited professional debut, while teenage Heavyweight sensation Leo Atang looks to extend his impressive start in the blue-riband division, having already recorded eight victories, seven by knockout, since turning professional last year.
