Chantelle Cameron and Matchroom Boxing announce split

Matchroom Boxing announced the following statement on X today, May 1: "Matchroom Boxing can today confirm that we reached an agreement last month to release Chantelle Cameron from her promotional deal. We would like to wish Chantelle all the best in her future endeavours."

The former undisputed super-lightweight champion, replies to the tweet with a simple "Thank you", suggesting the parting has been amicable.

The 32-year-old from Northampton became the undisputed super-lightweight champion in May 2023 with a mixed decision win over Irish superstar Katie Taylor on away turf in Dublin.

The boxing heroines clashed six months later in a rematch at the same 3Arena in Ireland. This time, the Irish queen was able to exact revenge in another impossibly close contest.

Cameron was so willing to complete the thrilling trilogy, she agreed to a reduction in purse, but an agreement couldn't be reached, which ultimately became the catalyst for the breakdown in relations between the Brit and Matchroom.

The immediate response from fight fans indicate they are expecting 'Il Capo' Cameron to join British promotional outfit, BOXXER. However, it is believed that Frank Warren has already held talks with Cameron.
