Franchon Crews and Alejandra Jimenez will meet for WBC super middleweight belt

The World Boxing Council has ordered the fight between WBC super middleweight champion Franchon Crews (5-1, 2KOs) and heavyweight champion Alejandra Jimenez (12-0-1, 9KOs), who will seek to make history by becoming a double world champion.

The 31-year-old Mexican has dropped almost 70lbs from heavyweight down to super middleweight to challenge Baltimore's Crews.

32-year-old Franchon conquered the vacant title by defeating Maricela Cornejo in September 2018 and is ready to make the first defense of her crown, now as part of Golden Boy Promotions Team, with whom she recently signed.

Alejandra, has become an example of endeavor, as the dream of reigning in a lighter division has led her to prepare herself with an iron discipline. This not only includes work in the gym but also a nutrition regime, enabling her to reach 168 pounds gradually and without risking her health. She weighed in at 231lbs for her last world title fight in August 2017 in the second defense of the WBC world heavyweight title she won in just her sixth pro fight in 2016.

Franchon, who went the distance with Claressa Shields in what was both fighters' professional debuts in November 2016, will fight Jiménez on September 14 in Carson, California, at the show starring super welter champion Jaime Munguía and Patrick Allotey.
