Vasyl Lomachenko return planned for Summer against former opponent of Teofimo Lopez

Lomachenko in talks to face Masayoshi Nakatani in summer return

Former unified-lightweight champion Vasyl Lomachenko looks set to face Japanese lightweight Masayoshi Nakatani in his return to the ring in the summer.

The fight is reportedly set to feature as the main event of a summer card on ESPN in partnership with Top Rank, but no date has yet been confirmed as the fight is in early stages of negotiations.

Lomachenko lost his belts back in October when he was defeated by young talent Teofimo Lopez by unanimous decision in a huge event behind-closed-doors.

According to ESPN , the Japanese contender looks the most likely opponent for the southpaw's return, with no details finalised as of yet.

Nakatani is well-known for causing Teofimo Lopez a great deal of trouble in his defeat to the American, where Lopez vouched straight after to never fight an opponent as tall as the 6'0 contender.

Lomachenko will take to the ring for his 18th professional contest should the fight take place, but will be his first contest after recieving shoulder surgery in the aftermath of a humbling defeat from ;The Takeover.

Although this may not be the calibre of fight that is usually accepted by fans for a fighter as talented as Lomachenko, it could well be neccesary to see if he is able to replicate the levels of previous.

Nakatani however can not be taken lightly, with similar problems expected to be caused with his reach advantage, and 6-inch height advantage.
