Undefeated rising star 'King' Callum Walsh made his Irish fans happy on St. Patrick’s Day Eve, knocking out Scotsman Dean Sutherland in the first round at the Theater at Madison Square Garden.

The dramatic end came at 2:45 of the opening round, dominated by Cork’s Walsh, who improved his record to 13-0 with 11 knockouts in defence of his WBC Continental Americas title. Sutherland dropped to 19-2 with 7 knockouts.

Unleashing thunderbolts, the 24-year-old Walsh was unfazed by his opponent’s southpaw style, and although Sutherland resisted some heavy blows in the early stage, their weight and volume quickly took their toll.

Then a mighty left-right combination just before the end of the round changed everything in an instant, sending and rendering Sutherland to the canvas in a spectacular fashion and twisting his leg in the process.

Referee Ricky Gonzales didn’t need to count, stopping the fight and allowing the Hollywood-based Walsh to begin the March 17 celebrations early.

Also on the card, 'Fearless' Feargal McCrory (17-1, 9KO) climbed off the canvas to stop Keenan Carbajal (25-5-1, 17KO) in the eighth-round of their 10-round super-featherweight clash. It was the Irish southpaw's first fight back since his loss to Lamont Roach in June 2024 .
