Tyler Denny announces his retirement

Tyler Denny (21-5-3, 1 KOs) has officially announced his retirement from boxing on September 25, following back-to-back losses during 2026.

With only three wins from his first five pro fights, not many tipped Tyler to become a champion. Fast-forward eight years and the written-off Wordsley warrior had won Midlands, English and European titles, exceeding his own expectations and proving everyone else wrong.

Denny turned pro in 2015, then won the Midlands Area middleweight title in his ninth fight in 2017. He challenged for the English middleweight title three times before he finally claimed the championship on his fourth attempt in 2022 against fellow West Midlander, River Wilson-Bent. He lost his first crack at the English crown by knockout, then narrowly missed out on a mixed decision defeat, then came a draw, edging closer and closer with each try until he finally cracked it, an inspiration to every aspiring boxer to never give up.

His eight-fight unbeaten run from 2021 to 2024 was incredible, scalping the likes of Derrick Osaze, Bradley Rea, Brad Pauls, Macaulay McGowan, Matteo Signani, Felix Cash.

Now aged 35, with only two wins from his last five fights, the inspirational fighter has proudly hung up his gloves after an extraordinary career.

He wrote on social media: "A lot better than I ever imagined..

I won the Midlands title and got told I’d overachieved. Then came the English title. Then the European title. The belts were great, but they’re not what I’m most proud of.

"What I’m proudest of is taking the same people who backed me at small hall shows in Dudley and sharing nights with them at the Manchester Arena, Resorts world, 3Arena Dublin and Wembley Stadium.

"From start to finish, I proudly represented Rowley Regis and the Black Country wherever I went. 

"A massive thank you to BCB Promotions for giving me the opportunities and platform to achieve more than I ever thought possible.

"Thank you to my coaches throughout the journey: Errol Johnson, Paul Mann Ben Wilkes Matt Sturgess, Ryan Davies , Coops Boxing-Camp , Brett smith Lindon and Razza. Also to everyone at Old Hill Abc .Also unsung hero of bcb Sunita who I love to wind up but keeps everything together . Every one of you played a part in helping me become the fighter and person I am today.
