Boxing world mourn death of tragic Patrick Day
Super-welterweight boxer Patrick Day (17-4-1), 27 from Newport, New York, sadly passed away on October 16, succumbing to the traumatic brain injury he suffered in his fight at the Wintrust Arena in Chicago this past Saturday, October 12.
A 10th round knockout defeat to unbeaten Charles Conwell (11-0) in their USBA super-welterweight championship clash saw the former WBC Continental Americas champion rushed to hospital where he later died from his brain injuries.
Day turned pro in 2013, after winning The Golden Gloves in 2012, and overcame early career struggles to become a world-rated super welterweight contender. He captured the WBC Continental Americas championship in 2017.
