Tony Bellew offers Joe Parker the blueprint to beat Daniel Dubois

Tony Bellew: “Joe Parker can beat Daniel Dubois in Riyadh by listening to me”

In just two weeks time, on February 22, Joseph Parker and Daniel Dubois will go face-to-face in Riyadh for a colossal championship showdown, and former word champion Tony Bellew has advised the challenger on how he can win the fight.

South Londoner Daniel Dubois (22-2, 21KO) is the IBF World heavyweight champion and Joseph Parker (35-3, 23KO) is a former WBO world champion, who has waited seven years for his next shot at a heavyweight world title.

Tony Bellew gave his advice when speaking to Casino Apps , “If I could put a game plan in place, there's a way to defeat Dubois and you cannot start slow. It means if you let this boy gain any confidence whatsoever, he's going to run through you.

“I just think Joe Parker comes out, sticks a hard jab on him, lands a few hard shots early doors, I think he takes over the fight and just wins at a canter. But if he allows Daniel Dubois to gain any kind of confidence and get on top of him, he's had it. And I think he has a chance, but if I was a betting man, I do think someone's getting stopped.”

Dubois famously stopped Anthony Joshua in his last fight, dropping his British rival four times en-route to a fifth round knockout.

Despite the fourth defeat of his career and failure to recapture the world title for a second time, Bellew believes that Joshua will continue to fight on for the foreseeable future.

Bellew predicted, “His whole life's been scripted out in front of the camera. It’s very, very difficult to deal with that kind of pressure. I think he's in a place now where he doesn't care - win, lose, or draw - he just wants to fight.

“I think he's past caring about belts. I think he's past caring about status and sponsorship deals. He's wealthy. He's probably the richest fighter in the world. He just wants to fight. It's crazy because when you're fighting and you're chasing titles, you've got a goal, you've got a reason.”

The 42-year-old nicknamed 'Bomber' thinks the same about Tyson Fury too, “It was a kneejerk reaction [Fury’s retirement announcement]. Wasn’t he in the car when he did it, something like that? And that just tells you it's a kneejerk reaction. He hasn't announced it at a press conference. He acts on emotion as well. And I just think once the dust is fully settled, I just think he'll be back.

“I genuinely believe he needs boxing. He breathes it, sleeps it, it's in him. He’s a phenomenal fighter. He's a brilliant fighter. He's got a lovely family, a lovely wife behind him. And I just wish him all the best, but I just feel he'll be fed up and bored. He's a winner. And he's got that competitive nature about him.”
