Thai Srisaket Sor Rungvisai (49-5-1, 42 KOs), two-time WBC super flyweight champion, will return to the ring Friday, March 12 (local March 13), at the Workpoint Studio in Bang Phun, Thailand.
Srisaket fights former champion Kwanthai Sithmorseng (50-7-1, 27 KOs) in a match that will be the main event of the WP Boxing series, the leading boxing program in Southeast Asia and will be broadcast live on DAZN.
From Bangkok, 38-year-old Sithmorseng was the WBA minimumweight champion between November 2010 to April 2011, the title had been vacated by Roman Gonzalez.
In his last fight, he won the Thai super-flyweight title, but has lost three of his last five contests.
Southpaw Rungvisai currently ranks first in the WBC super flyweight world rankings and is the mandatory world title challenger, so if he comes out with his hand up from this important commitment, he will face the winner of the bout between Juan Francisco Estrada and Román “Chocolatito” González, which takes place at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas on Saturday night, live worldwide on DAZN.
His last loss was to the aforementioned Estrada in April 2019, a man he previously beat in February 2018. Currently, Wangek is 2-0 up over Gonzalez and tying 1-1 with Estrada.
Trained by Chokchai 'Pop' Pisitwuttinan, Wisaksil Wangk is an inspiration to all aspiring boxers out there having only won one from his first five contests, then went on to win the WBC World super-flyweight title twice and The Ring Magazine belt. He has a record of 6-2 in world title fights.
If he secures win no.50, then his next fight will be a trilogy against either Gonzalez of Estrada.
