Skye Nicolson cruised past Urvashi Singh as she chases world title redemption

It didn't take long for Skye Nicolson (14-1, 3KOs) to find a stoppage, as the Australian continues to make the most of her newfound power at Super Bantamweight.

She took on Urvashi Singh (12-4, 7KOs) at the Fortitude Music Hall on Saturday, August 23 - and a captivating performance sealed her return to the top of the women's divisions.

The Queensland-based fighter suffered a major roadblock in her otherwise glistening career as she tasted defeat for the first time as a professional to Tiara Brown in March this year.

However, she appears to have taken the loss in her stride - it took less than four minutes for the 29-year-old to find a stoppage, with the contest halted just 83 seconds into the second round.

It was a brutal, left hand to the body that spelt the beginning of the end for Singh, who quickly grasped her side and turned away from her opponent - before Nicolson pounced and sent her to the canvas.

The Indian fighter shook her head as the referee began his count, signalling she had no desire to continue - and thus putting a stop to the one-sided beatdown.

Singh looked doomed from the start, with her counterparts' speed and ring IQ a level above what the 30-year-old had to counter with.

"I was hoping I was going to get a little bit more ring time this time,” Nicolson told DAZN .

“But I’ve got that body shot off a few times in sparring so the girls, back in England, definitely know that shot. They’ve been calling me to get that shot off in fights for a while. It was nice to get that shot off. I was just getting started - I was having fun - but it is what it is. That’s boxing, I guess.

“I think I might be a puncher at 122, you know? I feel great at this weight. I think I’m where I’m supposed to be now.”

Although she did note that she feels there is still unfinished business at featherweight.

“But that also being said, like I’ve said this whole time, I want to get my belt back at 126.

“Tiara Brown, you’ve got what I want. I’m coming back for it. The 122 division’s busy; I’m ready to take over the world; 122; 126; anyone can have it.”
