IBA delivers record-breaking 2025 Men’s World Boxing Championships in Dubai

The International Boxing Association (IBA) has confirmed that a host of the world’s most decorated elite amateur boxers have confirmed their attendance at the upcoming IBA 2025 Men’s World Boxing Championships between December 2 and 13 in Dubai, further cementing the groundbreaking event as the pinnacle of elite amateur boxing.

Under the visionary leadership of IBA President Umar Kremlev, the IBA has transformed the Men’s World Boxing Championships into the most inclusive, transparent and rewarding tournament in the sport’s history. Unlike any other international federation, the IBA has removed political barriers and ensured that the best boxers from every nation are welcome to compete, regardless of nationality or external agendas.

This unwavering commitment to the athletes is reflected in the unprecedented $8.32 million prize pool - the largest ever offered at an amateur world championships - with substantial financial rewards reaching all the way down to quarter-finalists, directly supporting the development of boxing at grassroots level worldwide.

IBA CEO Chris Roberts OBE said: “Some of the world’s top-named boxers will be attending the Men’s Elite World Championships in Dubai this December. 

“Among them are Hasanboy Dusmatov and Abdumalik Khalokov from Uzbekistan, Loren Alfonso Dominguez and Saidjamshid Jafarov representing Azerbaijan, Nurbek and Aibek Oralbay from Kazakhstan and the legendary Julio La Cruz of Cuba. These outstanding athletes will grace us with their technical ability, showmanship, and genuine class - true ambassadors of the sport. With over 95 National Federations already registered, the tempo is rising, and we are set to witness a truly fantastic event in Dubai.”

Over its near-eight-decade history, the IBA has overseen the sport’s evolution, delivered a plethora of elite-level boxing competitions and championed athlete-centred reforms that have put fairness, financial equity and accessibility at the forefront of the conversation within combat sports.

The IBA 2025 Men’s World Boxing Championships will continue that legacy, forming as the centrepiece of the inaugural IBA ‘Festival of Boxing’ - a spectacular 12-day celebration of the sport running from December 2 to 13 in the global entertainment hotbed of Dubai. 

The festival will launch with a star-studded opening ceremony at the iconic Dubai Tennis Stadium; promising world-class entertainment, cultural performances and a dazzling showcase of boxing’s global unity before the first bell rings on the championship bouts.
