Promoter Dmitry Salita calls for the rematch between Dillian Whyte and Jermaine Franklin

Salita wants to make Whyte vs Franklin 2 in America

Jermaine Franklin promoter Dmitry Salita has slammed the idea of Dillian Whyte landing the rematch with Anthony Joshua, controversially stating, "Joshua vs Whyte fight is pointless after he was dominated by Franklin."

The Ukrainian boxing promoter told Fair Betting Sites that no one wants to see Joshua vs Whyte 2 after the 'Brixton Bodysnatcher's' under par performance against his heavyweight charge, Jermain Franklin at the OVO Arena, Wembley.

Salita, who also manages Claressa Shields, Jarrell Miller and Otto Wallin, strongly believes that Franklin should have been awarded the decision against Whyte in their 12-round meeting last weekend on November 26.

Salita said, "Anthony Joshua has 99 options but in my opinion Dillian Whyte is no longer one - boxing fans no longer want to see the rematch between Joshua and Whyte after Whyte lost to Franklin in the eyes of everyone but the judges. Look at social media, 98 percent of fans are voicing their desire for Whyte and Franklin to throw down again. Whyte and AJ does nothing to re-establish Joshua’s brand as an elite heavyweight. It's a pointless fight. I don’t see how boxing fans and media can take the AJ Whyte rematch seriously. No disrespect to Jake Paul and Logan Paul, but boxing creates the conditions for side show boxing because we don't make enough competitive fights, the fights fans want."

The former pro who grew up in New York from the age of nine, has called for the immediate rematch, which two judges scored 116-112 to the Londoner in the home corner and the other had it a draw at 115-115.

Salita continued, "The 50-50 fight to make is Whyte and Franklin. Whyte has not proved he's ready for AJ. We can do it in the US or the UK, it would be absolutely massive. And I believe Jermaine stops Whyte this time around. The rematch is up to Dillian. I believe from Eddie’s and DAZN's point of view the fight would be massive and generate significant interest from the fans and media on both costs."
