New promotion Rage Kombat launches debut show in Malta headlined by Christian ‘Coqqos’ Schembri

Rage Kombat launches in a country obsessed with boxing!

Rage Kombat hosts their debut event on February 8th in Malta - an event that will feature boxing and live music.

Malta is fast becoming a hotbed for boxing action. Recently, we saw Tyson Fury set up his training camp on the island for the Usyk rematch; regular events are happening with sell-out crowds; top talent such as Malik Zinad are living there; and now Rage Kombat will launch with some innovative ideas.

Founder Mark Wilson Smith said: “Our first event will be taking place in Malta, a country that I have strong ties to. It is a country with a passion for combat sports – every month there is a boxing, kickboxing, or MMA event, and they regularly get bigger crowds than the football matches. They have the fighters, the gyms, the right set-up, and importantly dedicated fans!”

Interestingly, they will split the show into three parts. Firstly, fans will be treated to ‘Rage Kontender’ a feeder series where local amateur boxers look to impress.

That is followed by the Half Time Show, which includes live music performed by a Brazilian samba band. Finally, the main event happens: professional fighters participating in evenly-matched and competitive bouts.

For this debut event, Rage Kombat is collaborating with top names such as the Malta Boxing Association, KOTV, Boxing Media Hub podcast, Swerve Combat, and it will be broadcast live on Triller TV.

Additionally, a raft of popular Maltese talent like Christian ‘Coqqos’ Schembri; Brandon Borg; ‘Prince’ Bray Pace; and Moez Zinad (brother of Malik) will be featuring on the main card.

Leading Maltese boxer Schembri commented: “I can’t wait to get back in the ring and give a good show to the fans. I’ve been working since my last fight and over the holidays to polish my technique and learn new tricks, and now it’s time to put them into practice. God willing, I will get another knockout.

‘‘Fighting on Rage Kombat’s debut show is very exciting as well, being part of this promising project is a great opportunity. See you on the 8th of February!’’

Wilson Smith then concluded: “Going forward, we will be including live music at all our shows, while attracting well known professional fighters and celebrities looking to get involved.

“It’s going to be an exciting and fun venture. At heart I am a fight fan too, so I will be ensuring that Rage Kombat gives the fans a promotion that will enjoy following. Essentially, exciting fights featuring emerging talent and some big names, plus a few innovative ideas!”

The event will be broadcast live on Triller TV via PPV on February 8th , 7.30pm CET
