Nayeli Verde and Lupe Bautista meet for WBC silver flyweight title

Mexican Guadalupe Bautista (12-11-2) returns to the ring this weekend in Ixtapaluca, State of Mexico, where she faces compatriot Nayeli Verde (4-4-2), with the vacant WBC female flyweight silver title on the line.

For the first time in Ixtapaluca, a professional card will take place, and it'll be at the Valle Verde Subdelegation Auditorium.

It was at the traditional weekly Martes a Café press conference held by the World Boxing Council, where the announcement was made, and which was attended by fighters who will be part of the card.

Both young ladies who politely, warmly and sportingly greeted each other, are pledging one hundred and ten percent commitment, plus effort.

Despite her checkered record, 'Diablita Verde' has won three from her last four fights. The 28-year-old Mexican defeated debutant Lucia Hernandez Victoriano in her last fight over six rounds on August 25, 2018, a year ago from her next fight date.

27-year-old Guadalupe Bautista Hernández also hasn't fought yet in 2019. Her last bout was in December where she took unbeaten Evelyn Nazarena Bermudez (10-0) to a split decision in the first defence of her IBF World female flyweight title, losing her belt by the narrowest of scores - 96-94, 94-96 and 94-96.

A former Mexican light-flyweight champion, Bautista had been on a six-fight winning streak, culminating in winning the vacant IBF world title with an eighth-round TKO over home fighter Andrea Soledad Sanchez (8-1-1) in Argentina.

Despite the former world champion's vaster experience as she enters into her sixth title contest against Verde, who hasn't had any championship experience in her career yet, the WBC belts have always alluded her in the past. In 2012, Bautista challenged for the WBC Youth title twice and the WBC Silver strap, all three at light-flyweight, but tasted defeat and disappointment in all three fights by way of unanimous decision. She is a tough cookie, with 11 defeats on her record, she can proudly boast to have never been stopped during her approaching 10-year career.
