Muhammad Waseem blew his oppoennt away in 62-seconds

Muhammad Waseem (9-1) trained for six months for a 62-second stoppage win – but all the graft is made easy among his ‘brothers’ in camp.

Pakistan’s boxing hero, nicknamed the 'Falcon', blasted to victory over Conrado Tanamor (11-3) in just over a minute to stun #RotundaRumble in Dubai with fans around the world watching on iFL TV.

Far from bemoaning his half-year stretch in the gym, the 32-year-old from Quetta, Pakistan, has enjoyed his work alongside the likes of Paddy Barnes, Tyrone McKenna, Tyrone McCullagh, Sean McComb and Sam Maxwell in Danny Vaughan’s MTK Scotland gym.

Waseem said: “Danny Vaughan is a great trainer so I’m learning a lot of things working under him. He has a lot of experience and there are so many other great fighters in that gym with Sean McComb, Paddy Barnes, the Tyrones and Sam Maxwell.

“I enjoy the camp. I’ve had six solid months of training and I’ve had all those good guys with me. We live together and train together. We are all like brothers. They’re all very funny so we have lots of jokes together.

“They’re the best guys I’ve ever met! They help me and I help them. I’m looking forward to winning a world title with my friends and my trainer.

“I’m very happy training in Scotland and I can’t wait to fight for the team and win a world title for them and for my country.”

Waseem challenged for the vacant IBF flyweight title in 2018 but was outpointed by Moruti Mthalane (35-2), despite dropping him in the 11th round.

News of Waseem’s next assignment will be forthcoming in due course.

Waseem’s gym-mates return to action soon, with McKenna and McCullagh in the huge #GoldenContract tournament in London, Barnes facing undefeated flyweight champion Jay Harris and McComb stepping up against Viorel Simion on the same Belfast bill.
