The Falcon soars in Lahore

It was a homecoming to remember for Muhammad 'Falcon' Waseem as he picked up a stoppage victory over Jeny Boy Boca on Saturday, December 19.

Waseem (11-1, 8 KOs) was facing Boca (14-7, 12 KOs) in front of his loyal compatriots in Lahore, and ensured it was a memorable night as he came out on top.

The 33-year-old Pakistan superstar was in control throughout the fight, leading to him securing an eighth round stoppage win, much to the delight of those in attendance.

The event on Saturday was put on by Amir Khan, with Waseem being idolised by fans throughout the week leading up to his 12th pro fight.

It means that Waseem has now moved one step closer to a crack at a world title, as he looks to become flyweight world champion in 2021.

The man from Quetta was an accomplished amateur, winning bronze and silver Commonwealth medals at Delhi 2010 and Glasgow 2014, respectively. He created history in his home country of Pakistan when he went undefeated for seven years, ending his amateur career with a record of 89-16.

He challenged for and won the South Korea bantamweight title in his professional debut. He futher made history by becoming the first P{akistani boxer to win the WBC Silver flyweight title in his fourth fight in 2016, which he defended successfully the same year.

He challenged Moruti Mthalane in his ninth fight for the vacant IB flyweight title but was edged out on points. Three victories later and he is aiming to challenge for world honours once again.
