Moses Itauma and Filip Hrgovic will now clash for a world title

Queensberry Promotions were able to convince IBF #1 Frank Sanchez to step aside so that now Moses Itauma and Filip Hrgovic can now lock horns for the vacant IBF World heavyweight title on August 29 in London.

Their highly-anticipated showdown takes place at The O2 Arena in Greenwich on Saturday, August 29, live on DAZN PPV.

British boxer Itauma (14-0, 12 KOs) has the chance to join Tyson Fury, Anthony Joshua and Daniel Dubois, who have all held the IBF World heavyweight belt, which is now vacant following Oleksandr Usyk's recent decision to relinquish all his world titles.

Itauma is ranked IBF #3, while Hrgovic is IBF #4, making them the top two rated contenders underneath "The Cuban Flash" Frank Sanchez, who will be named mandatory challenger for who whoever emerges victorious on the last weekend of August.

21-year-old southpaw, Itauma, is currently unbeaten in 14 bouts, with emphatic knockout wins over Dillian Whyte and Jermaine Franklin. Also undefeated in the amateurs, the Chatham man is still regarded by some as an untested prospect.

This forthcoming fight with "The Animal" Hrgovic (20-1, 15 KOs) will finally answer any doubts any critics still harbour. His performance against the Croatian will determine just how bright his future could be.

The 34-year-old from Zagreb was flying in his pro career until he met Daniel Dubois for the IBF Interim title in 2024. Hrgovic was boxing well until he began to absorb some heavy artillery from Dubois in the middle rounds, which opened up cuts over both eyes, forcing the ringside doctor to stop the contest in the eighth round.

10 months later, Filip bounced back with a dominant points win over "The Juggernaut" Joe Joyce, followed by two more impressive scalps over established Brits, David Adeleye and Dave Allen. He outclassed English and British champion Adeleye in Saudi Arabia last August, then he battered "The White Rhino" in front of his home crowd in Doncaster FC's stadium last May, taking no time at all to dismantle the likeable boxer, stopping him after two very one-sided rounds of action.

Despite how even this fight is viewed, Hrgovic is a 7/1 underdog at some bookmakers.

The Itauma-Hrgovic undercard is packed full of top fights showcasing British boxing talent.

Maidstone's Sam Noakes (18-1, 16 KOs) faces former world champion Denys Berinchyk (19-1, 9 KOs) over 10-rounds at lightweight.

Unbeaten Constantin Ursu (15-0, 6 KOs) and Ben Vaughan (12-2, 4 KOs) clash for British and Commonwealth welterweight titles.

Aloys Youmbi (11-1, 9 KOs) tests his mettle against world title contender Mike Perez (32-3-1, 22 KOs).
