Martin Hillman vs Marcelo David Yalul tops bill in Essex

Commonwealth Silver champion Martin Hillman (21-7, 3 KOs) has announced his next fight on September 12 in Ilford for the WBF International super-bantamweight title.

The Kent fighter will face Argentina's Marcelo David Yalul (3-1), reigniting the recent rivalry between the two warring countries.

The 35-year-old from Orpington recently claimed the Commonwealth Silver super-bantamweight belt in Togo, and now he plans to add more silverware in his second bout of the year.

In his 13th year as a pro, the experienced Hillman announced the title fight on social media this week, "I’m excited to officially announce that on Saturday 12th September, I’ll be fighting for the WBF International Championship in the main event at The CREAM, presented by TFM Boxing Promotions.

"This is a big opportunity in my career, as I take on a tough opponent from Argentina in an England vs Argentina showdown, we all know the rivalry is real he’s going to be coming all out to take my head off but mark my words he’s going home empty handed!

"It’s going to be a hard fight, but I’m putting everything into my preparation and I’ll be doing everything I can to bring the WBF International title home.

"When I was growing up in the 1990s and early 2000s, I remember watching so many fights contested on the BBC for the famous blue WBF belt.

"To now have the opportunity to fight for that same belt is something that’s genuinely special to me. It would mean a great deal to add one of those iconic blue belts to my own collection."

His Buenos Aires opponent has had four fights within 14 months iof his pro bow in 2025, and this will also be his second outing this year.

The main event will be supported by a host of local fighters, "The event also features a fantastic undercard, so it’s going to be an incredible night of professional boxing from start to finish," Hillman enthused.

"I’d genuinely love to have as many of you there as possible. Your support means the world to me, and hearing the crowd behind me on fight night gives me that extra push when it matters most.
