Pacquiao makes long-awaited return against unified champion Spence Jr

Eight-division world champion and Philippine Senator Manny “Pac Man” Pacquiao and undefeated unified WBC and IBF Welterweight World Champion Errol “The Truth” Spence Jr. will meet in a blockbuster championship showdown that headlines a FOX Sports PBC Pay-Per-View Saturday, August 21 from T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

This battle for welterweight supremacy will pit the division’s reigning king against a legend of the sport who has proven in recent years that he is still worthy of his long held standing.

Pacquiao was initially linked with returning to the ring against Conor McGregor back in 2020, but the Irishman has since become embroiled in a trilogy with UFC star Dustin Poirier, which left the door open for two-belt American Spence Jr.

The American is on his own comeback trail, having defeated Danny Garcia by unanimous decision back in December 2020 which was his first fight since being involved in a dangerous accident on the road.

His belts will initially be on the line for the huge August super-fight in America, but it remains to be seen whether the WBA belt will be on the line after pre-pandemic issues have been raised with Pacquiao currently known as the 'champion in recess'.
