Lawrence Okolie is backing experience over form

Daniel Dubois (22-3, 21 KOs) and Fabio Wardley (20-0-1, 19 KOs) are set for a mammoth clash on May 9 at the Co-op Live Arena, Manchester

Wardley’s WBO heavyweight title will be on the line, while ‘Triple D’ looks to once again grab hold of world honours.

Both men are two of Britain's very best, with Wardley yet to taste defeat as a professional, while Dubois has only come up short against the division's elite operators.

Wardley has taken the step up to world level in his stride, stopping both Justis Huni and Joseph Parker last year, with the latter ultimately proving decisivein his WBO appointment.

He is now seeking to prove his worth as a world champion, and Dubois will be no easy task.

One man who has shared the ring with many is Lawrence Okolie (23-1, 17 KOs), a two-division world champion and heavyweight prospect who is looking to etch his name into the heavyweight history books as his career continues to mature.

Speaking on the upcoming battle, Okolie is fairly confident that Dubois will come out on top when the pair meet.

“I think that Dubois is going to win because he has got a lot more experience at the level and he has beaten better guys,” Okolie told Sky Sports.

“I think that, stylistically as well, if they do start trading, unless Fabio is that much quicker than him, Daniel definitely punches harder than him and is more concussive, so I think he will probably hurt him.

“However, with his [Wardley’s] confidence and Ben Davison, who I think is a really good coach, they might work on the right sequences to catch Dan and if they catch Dan early and hard, then we could see a few repeats of some of his performances.

“I would be favouring Dan in that fight."
