Kell Brook believes he can 'dethrone' Terence Crawford in potential welterweight clash in 2020

Kell Brook is nearing a fight deal to face Terence Crawford in the latter stages of 2020 and believes he can take the victory in America

Kell Brook (39-2 27KOS) is nearing a negotitated agreement to fight Terence Crawford (36-0 27KOS) in America in November this year, and believes that he has what it takes to 'dethrone' the three-weight world champion and record one of the most illustrious results in recent British boxing history.

'Special K' has frequently been linked with the bout with Crawford in the past, and fought Mark De Luca back in February 2020 to make his comeback into the sport after an extended break and begin his search for some bigger names once again. Brook has mixed frequently with top level fighters after facing just two defeats to huge names Errol Spence Jr in 2017 and Gennady Golovkin back in 2016, in addition to beating Shawn Porter and Frankie Gavin.

The 34-year-old has revealed his ambition to return to the top of the division at 147lbs, and has disclosed that discussions are in the latter stages for a title charge at Terence Crawford in November 2020, with the likely venue to be stateside.

He told Sky Sports: "Talks are progressing and we feel like we are edging closer, my team have been in regular dialogue with Bob Arum. He assures us that both him and Crawford are bang up for it, so hopefully we can get it over the line and give the fight fans something to get excited about and to close 2020 in style.

"Crawford is the champ so rightfully they want the fight stateside, Vegas has been discussed. It suits me though. I have always wanted to fight in Las Vegas - the bright lights of 'Sin City'. I've dethroned a welterweight American world champion in his own back yard before - I look forward to doing it again. Date wise Bob Arum is looking at mid-November so tell Sky Sports to get the sparklers ready, because I'll be bringing the fans fireworks!".

The Sheffield fighter also believes that despite his period out of the ring that his speed and power can trouble Crawford, but does not believe that age will play any factor in the contest with 'Bud' also turning 33 by the time of the clash.

"I'm feeling sharp, I'm feeling good. I've never felt so good this far out from a fight, people talk about the age factor, but overlook that Terence will be 33 himself by the time we fight. There isn't much between us. I look at the time that's passed as becoming a more mature fighter now and the knowledge and experience I have, for me, make me bang ready for an even more sensational performance.

"He's an elite level fighter but he's never been in with anyone as strong, powerful quick and with the timing I possess. I think he knows that too. Nobody at 147 can take that right hand from me when it lands flush!"
